Because part of our egg flock are purchased mature (ie ready-to-lay), we are unable to certify our eggs right now. Otherwise, everyday on our farm they are treated organic and better! The laying flock is contained within fencing which is mobile, and closed up in a mobile coop at night (mainly for protection from predators).

These are be raised in poultry 'tractors' – mobile cages without a floor in which the birds are sheltered, fed and watered and moved around the pasturing area to optimize both their pasture/insect intake and their fertilizing impact on the soil.
Broiler chickens are certified organic, and sold fresh (not frozen), to be picked up at the farm on a scheduled on the day after processing (Brennen's). Available quantities are limited by supply management (quota), so we may be sold out and have to ration out to orders, mainly first come first served, preference to return customers. Late pickups will be frozen and have a $5 per order premium.

The turkey poults are brooded indoors and then pastured in a netting enclosure that is rotated in our orchard. In their netting they have a rudimentary roost/shelter/shade structure. Their diet therefore includes insects, fruit and weeds in addition to organic turkey ration.
Goslings will hatched in the spring, $15/gosling (not sexed). We are not selling goose for meat on pre-orders this year. Email us using the button below to inquire about reserving your goslings.

Poultry Processing Details
All poultry will be killed and cleaned at an inspected facility (http://brennanpoultry.com). The birds can only be received whole, but check out the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEJSHRSJCn8 to learn how to cut a chicken in pieces before freezing- it is pretty easy once you know a few tips and tricks.
It is recommended that you refrigerate your birds for 24 hrs or more after you receive them prior to freezing, although the information is not unanimous on this. It is claimed that this will result is more tender meat. Not necessary, but according to some it helps a lot.
Payment is required upon pickup of your birds at the farm: cash, cheque or debit card. Cheques have to be made out to "Joseph Grootenboer".
